Weekend Update: MPD Investigating July 4 Homicides, Shootings

Milwaukee Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 4:45 p.m. on July 4 in the 5100 block of N. 76th Street. Officers responding to a shots fired call discovered an unresponsive 34-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.  A motive for this incident has not yet been established. Our investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Milwaukee Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 5:10 p.m. on July 4 in the 3100 block on N. 12th Street. The victim, a 22-year-old Milwaukee man, stated he was shot after he was approached by two people unknown to him on the street. He was transported to a local hospital by a passerby and was treated for his non-life threatening injuries. Our investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Milwaukee Police are investigating a homicide that happened around 10:50 p.m. on July 4 in the 700 block of S. 22nd Street. The victim, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, was found unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene despite the lifesaving efforts of the Milwaukee Fire Department.  A 24-year-old man is currently in custody as a person of interest in the case.  MPD continues its investigation.

Milwaukee Police are investigating a homicide that happened around 11:15 p.m. on July 4 in the 8100 block of W. Glen Avenue. The victim, a 31-year-old Milwaukee man, was shot outside of a residence that was hosting a large party. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. MPD is currently searching for a known suspect.
