Milwaukee Police are investigating a serious crash that happened around 8:40 p.m. on July 28 near the intersection of N. 17th Street and W. North Avenue. A speeding 1997 Chevy Suburban westbound on W. North Avenue disregarded the stop light at N. 17th St. and collided with a 2003 Chevy PT Cruiser which was turning onto W. North Avenue from southbound N. 17th Street. The PT cruiser then struck two vehicles stopped at the light facing eastbound. None of the occupants of the stopped vehicles were injured. The lone 35-year-old male occupant of the PT Cruiser suffered life threatening injuries and is currently being treated at a local hospital. The lone occupant of the Suburban described as a young male was picked up by a following vehicle and fled the scene. Our investigation into this accident and the identification of the driver of the Suburban is ongoing.
