UPDATE: MPD Investigating February 13 West Side Homicide

Milwaukee Police are investigating a homicide that happened around 7:20 p.m. on February 13th. A 44-year-old Milwaukee man walked into a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by the hospital staff the man died from his injuries. The circumstances, including the location, of this incident are still under investigation.

UPDATE (2/15/16 at 9:40 a.m.):  The homicide that happened on February 13 has been determined to have taken place around 7:15 p.m. on that date in the 3000 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue.  MPD is currently searching for a known suspect.

UPDATE (2/22/16 at 9:40 a.m.): The February 13 homicide in the 3000 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue has been ruled by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office a Homicide by Negligent Handling of a Dangerous Weapon and is not a countable homicide under UCR guidelines.  Charges were filed against the suspect in this case, John E. Nash (B/M, 3/2/82), on February 20.
