Two Arrested, Gun Recovered in August 2 East Side Shooting

Milwaukee Police are investigating a shooting that happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. on August 2 in the 2900 block of N. Oakland Avenue.  A fight involving multiple people took place on the street and two victims, a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were hit by gunfire.  The victims were transported to a local hospital, where the man is being treated for serious injuries and the woman is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The male victim is in custody for his alleged role in the shooting.  A few minutes later, officers from UWM saw another suspect believed to be involved in the shooting fleeing from the scene on foot.  The suspect, a 30-year-old man, pointed a gun at the officers and was taken into custody in the 3000 block of N. Bartlett Avenue.  Officers also recovered a gun that may have been used in the offense.  This is an ongoing investigation as detectives work to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting and those involved.  MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges in the coming days.
