Teenagers in Stolen Car Killed in North Side Fatal Crash

Milwaukee Police Officers from District 5 located a vehicle taken in an armed robbery on Friday, January 20th around 8:00 p.m., in the area of N. Teutonia Avenue and W. Cornell Street. The vehicle, a Volkswagen Passat was stolen about 45 minutes earlier during an armed robbery near N. 29th Street and W. Villard Avenue.  Officers attempted a traffic stop of the Passat but the driver refused to stop and fled from officers. The officers pursued the vehicle.

At the intersection of N. 31st Street and W. Capitol Drive the driver of the Passat failed to stop for a red traffic signal. It was struck by a Chevy Cavalier which was crossing W. Capitol Drive on N. 31st Street. This caused the Passat to strike a light pole and sustain severe damage.  One occupant of the Passat, a teenage male, died at the scene. The other occupant, a 15-year old Milwaukee male, suffered severe injuries.  Officers performed CPR until the arrival of the Milwaukee Fire Department. He was transported to local hospital where he died from his injuries. A handgun was recovered from the Passat. The driver of the Chevy suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.  The officers involved in this incident were not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
