Teenagers Arrested in Riverwest Armed Robberies

Milwaukee Police arrested six teenagers for two armed robberies in Riverwest and are investigating whether they are responsible for several other similar crimes. District Five officers responded to the 1000 block of E. Townsend Street around 9:00 p.m. on September 6 for a report of an armed robbery. Several suspects, one of them armed with a gun, approached the victim, a 21-year-old Milwaukee woman, and demanded her belongings. The suspects took the items and fled on foot. About ten minutes later, the group committed a similar crime where they stole items at gunpoint from a 37-year-old Milwaukee man in the 3400 block of N. Weil Street. Around 9:30 p.m., District Five officers on patrol in the area saw suspects matching the description and took six of them into custody. Several of the stolen items were found on the suspects. The suspects are a 16-year-old male, four 15-year-old males, and a 14-year-old male. MPD is investigating whether these suspects may be responsible for several other recent armed robberies in the area. The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
