Two teenage suspects are arrested by the Milwaukee Police Department for stealing a minivan and attempting to steal at least two others. At about 8:10 am on August 11, a citizen alerted an officer from the Office of Community Outreach and Education that he observed two teenagers attempting to steal a minivan in the 700 block of W. Messmer Street. That officer followed the teenagers, a 14-year-old male from Milwaukee and a 16-year-old male from Milwaukee, and took them into custody in the 4100 block of N. Port Washington Road. One of the teenagers had a screwdriver sticking out of his pants at the time of his arrest. Inside of that van, the suspects had pried away the plastic molding from the steering column to try and start the vehicle.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the teenagers were believed to be responsible for a minivan theft at about 7:55 am in the 3700 block of N. Humboldt Boulevard. The 16-year-old also tried to steal a locked minivan in the 4000 block of N. 7th Street shortly before he was arrested. The case against the two teenagers will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
