Three Milwaukee men, including a convicted felon, are charged for their involvement in a crash that injured four Milwaukee Police officers. On June 16, at approximately 3:35 am, the officers were in a marked Milwaukee Police Department wagon transporting a combative prisoner. As the wagon drove southbound on N. 35th Street and crossed into the intersection of W. Brown Street, it was struck by a stolen minivan that was being driven at a high rate of speed. The collision caused the police wagon to hit a cement light pole. The three suspects inside the minivan fled on foot but were later taken into custody. The four officers were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. One of the officers has since returned to work and the other three continue to recover from their injuries at home.
The three men arrested and charged are 19-year-old Montel Q. Wilson, 20-year-old Wallace A. Stewart, and 20-year-old Otis Green, all of Milwaukee. Stewart was the driver of the vehicle and along with being a convicted felon was driving with a revoked driver’s license. During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that Stewart and Wilson were the suspects responsible for a robbery earlier that morning. A 16-year-old Milwaukee male was walking in the 3500 block of S. 20th Street at approximately 2:00 am when Stewart and Wilson hit the subject and stole his cell phone and backpack. The stolen cell phone was later found with Wilson.
