Suspects Arrested in Violin Robbery, Still Seeking Violin

The Milwaukee Police Department has arrested three suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a priceless Stradivarius violin on January 27.  Police Chief Edward Flynn made the announcement during a news conference on Wednesday, February 5.  MPD has received and followed up on dozens of tips, during which time investigators developed information leading them to the three individuals now under arrest for the crime.

The suspects are a 36 year-old man, a 41 year-old man and a 32 year-old woman, all from Milwaukee. They were all arrested on February 3 and all three remain in the custody of MPD.

The Milwaukee Police Department continues to work closely with the FBI and the Milwaukee County District Attorney and is appreciative of the assistance they have given as the investigation continues.

Flynn said, “I am extremely proud of the detectives and officers of the Milwaukee Police Department.  Within a week, they vetted and investigated dozens of tips and made three high-quality arrests.  We anticipate charges to be filed by the District Attorney in the coming days.”

The stolen violin has not been recovered and our investigation is ongoing.  There is a sizable reward being offered for information leading to the recovery of the violin and MPD encourages anyone with any information about this crime and the location of the violin to contact the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360 or the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra at 414-226-7838.
