Suspect on Probation for Burglary, Arrested for Committing New Crime

A suspect, on probation for a previous burglary conviction, is arrested by officers from District 5 of the Milwaukee Police Department for committing another burglary. Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of N. 13th Street at about 3:00 a.m. on July 29 after a citizen called police. The citizen said he saw a man drag a garbage can through the alley, jump on top of the can, kick out a window of a neighboring home, and climb inside the home. When officers arrived, they found an open door and a man walking up the steps with a flashlight and nail gun in his hands. Officers took the man into custody and the suspect told officers he went into the residence to take anything of value he could find. The suspect is a 49-year-old Milwaukee man who is currently on probation for a burglary conviction in 2011. He was also convicted in 2009 of entry into a locked building. This case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
