Suspect Arrested with Help of ShotSpotter Technology

Officers from District Five of the Milwaukee Police Department used ShotSpotter technology to help arrest a suspect. ShotSpotter, a gunfire locator system that pinpoints precise locations from which gunshots were fired, alerted officers to shots fired in the 2800 block of N. 25th Street at approximately 9:45 p.m. on December 30. During their response, the officers saw a man look at their squad car, walk away and grasp his pants pocket. The officers followed him to the 2800 block of N. 24th Place and stopped the man and asked if he had any guns on him. The suspect did and officers found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in his pocket. The suspect, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, did not have a valid Concealed Carry permit and was arrested. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
