Milwaukee Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred at S. Layton Boulevard and W. Rogers Street around 5:15 p.m. on November 17. The victim, a 64-year-old Milwaukee man, was struck by a northbound vehicle as he was crossing the street westbound on W. Rogers Street after exiting a Milwaukee County Transit bus. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The striking vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet van, fled the scene but was identified by witnesses. The vehicle and driver were located a short distance away at a nearby home. The driver, a 73-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested. MPD’s investigation into this matter is ongoing and the incident will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
