Milwaukee Police officers responded to the 4100 block of N. 24th Place around 4:00 p.m. on December 23 for a report of child abuse. When officers tried to make contact, the resident of the house threatened to shoot at officers. He had his adult girlfriend and 3-year-old child in the house with him. MPD crisis negotiators were able to make phone contact, and after lengthy dialog convinced him to release the child, and eventually surrender himself. The suspect, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody without further incident, and faces felony charges of Physical Abuse of a Child from the incident which brought police to the home.
