“Smoking Gun”: ShotSpotter Leads Officers to Gun in Grill

Milwaukee Police officers arrested a twice convicted felon after the suspect allegedly fired shots into the air on Milwaukee’s West Side. District Three squads responded to the 2600 block of N. 34th Street just after 2:00 a.m. on May 3 for a report of shots fired that was triggered by ShotSpotter. The officers on patrol saw a man who they believed to be responsible for shooting a gun and took him into custody. They also found a handgun hidden inside of a small charcoal grill near where the arrest took place. The suspect arrested, a 28-year-old Milwaukee man, is a twice convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2005. MPD will present charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
