ShotSpotter Technology Helps Officers Make Two Arrests in Shots Fired Incident

District Three officers from the Milwaukee Police Department used ShotSpotter technology to arrest two suspects after shots were fired in a West Side neighborhood. ShotSpotter, a gunfire locator system that pinpoints precise locations from which gunshots were fired, alerted officers to shots fired in the 900 block of N. 24th Street around 6:55 p.m. on March 3. When officers arrived, they located two men standing outside a home. One of the men, a 34-year-old from Milwaukee, was clutching his waistband and he was found to have a loaded 9mm handgun. He faces charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon. The other man, also 34-years-old and from Milwaukee, confessed to officers that he fired the shots into the air. He faces charges of Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
