ShotSpotter Technology Helps in Arrest of Suspect

Officers from District Three of the Milwaukee Police Department used ShotSpotter technology to help arrest a shooting suspect. ShotSpotter, a gunfire locator system that pinpoints precise locations from which gunshots were fired, alerted officers to shots fired in the 2400 block of N. 29th Street at approximately 4:40 am on June 15. Upon their arrival, officers were flagged down by the victim, a 32-year-old Milwaukee woman. She told officers that the suspect, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, fired a gun at her from a balcony as she stood in an alley. The victim was not injured. The officers found several spent bullet casings under the balcony from where the suspect was said to be shooting from. The suspect was taken into custody and the gun believed to be used was located inside his apartment. The case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
