District Five officers from the Milwaukee Police Department arrested a shooting suspect after he was found sleeping in a car. At about 2:45 p.m. on August 11, a citizen alerted police to a man firing shots from a car in the 2800 block of W. Congress Street. An officer on patrol nearby also heard the shots and responded to the scene. Officers found the suspect sleeping in the passenger seat of a car. They could see the pistol the suspect used in plain view and also saw three spent casings next to the car on the passenger side. The suspect, a 39-year-old Milwaukee man, appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. He faces potential charges of endangering safety and operating a firearm while under the influence. MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
