Sherman Park Residents Ask for Assistance to Restore Order in Neighborhood

Milwaukee Police and local elected officials have received complaints about crowds gathering at N. 44th Street and Auer Avenue. Residents of  this area in Sherman Park have asked for assistance to restore order to the neighborhood.  On August 30th, at 8:00 p.m., MPD leadership asked a crowd of about 30-40 people gathered near the intersection to peacefully disperse when officers observed violations of the law.  After waiting approximately 20 minutes, the crowd was again asked to leave. Some of those present left the area but others refused to leave. MPD began to make arrests. Some of the crowd became disorderly and resistant and were also arrested.  The area has been cleared and MPD continues to patrol the area. Approximately 10 people were arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting an officer
