Officers from District Five were called to the 2700 block of N. 23rd Street at about 4 p.m. on March 16 when a concerned citizen reported at least 50 people, some armed with guns, standing in the street. Most of the people ran when the officers arrived, but officers caught and arrested 17 of the suspects varying in age from 14 to 21. Four of the suspects were carrying firearms, and some also had large amounts of marijuana and ecstasy pills in their possession. The suspects were booked on various charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Loitering – Drug Related Activity. Investigating officers learned a local production company had been making a video in the street, which was the reason for the large crowd. The cases will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
