Sensitive Crimes Detectives Arrest Sexual Assault Suspect

August 8th, 2012 by milwaukeepolice

Outstanding work by the dedicated members of the Milwaukee Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Division in catching a man suspected of exposing himself to women and then escalating to physically assaulting them.

Anthony H. Kodrich, 23, of West Allis, was arrested and charged in connection with an assault July 27, 2012 at about 5:30 p.m. at a bus stop in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Ave. The suspect is charged with second-degree sexual assault for grabbing a woman and touching her inappropriately as she waited for the bus.

The victim later saw news reports about other incidents of sexual assault in South Milwaukee and Bay View and reported the incident to police.

Based on their training and experience, SCD Detective Branko Stojsavljevic and Police Officer Amy Stolowski returned July 30 to the scene of the assault at 400 E. Lincoln and put a plan in place to board buses that stopped in the area to check for the suspect.

When they walked onto the last bus, they immediately recognized the suspect from the bus video from the July 27 incident and arrested him. He was subsequently positively identified by the victim. Without this victim, we may not have been able to make this arrest. We are grateful for her bravery in coming forward and reporting this crime.

We are investigating whether he is linked to seven other similar assaults in Milwaukee, South Milwaukee and Shorewood. Please take a look at his photo and call Milwaukee Police if you are a victim and have not reported the crime. The number to call with information is 414-935-7405.
