Seeing Red: Distinct Clothing Helps MPD Identity, Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect

A suspect’s red clothing helped Milwaukee Police officers identify and arrest the person believed to be responsible for an armed robbery on the Northwest Side. The crime happened around 10:15 a.m. on September 21 in the 6800 block of N. 76th Street when a 29-year-old Milwaukee woman was approached by a suspect. The suspect, who was wearing a red shirt and red pants, implied he had a gun, grabbed the victim’s cell phone, and struck her in the face before he fled on foot. A Milwaukee Police officer saw the suspect running away and broadcast his description. Other officers from District Four responded and located the suspect, a 17-year-old Milwaukee male and convicted felon, inside a home in the 6700 block of N. 75th Street a short time later. A relative inside the home told officers the suspect came in wearing red clothing but had changed before police arrived. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
