Two suspects are arrested by Milwaukee Police and have been charged for their role in an armed robbery after one of the suspects left his ID at the crime scene. District Two officers were dispatched to the 600 block of W. Historic Mitchell Street at approximately 12 p.m. on August 21 for a report of a strong armed robbery at a business. The owner told police that one of the suspects entered the building while the other acted as a lookout. While inside, the suspect stole property and struck the business owner in the face. During the course of the struggle, the suspect dropped his wallet that contained an identification card belonging to 42-year-old Angel L. Cruz, of Milwaukee. Officers took Cruz into custody on August 22 in the 1700 block of S. 8th Street. Cruz later admitted to committing the crime. The other suspect, 33-year-old Jose A. Hernandez-Lopez, was also taken into custody and confessed to his involvement. Both men have each been charged with a felony count of Robbery by Use of Force. Cruz is a convicted felon and has a lengthy criminal record. Hernandez-Lopez has been convicted in the past of retail theft.
