Officers from District Six of the Milwaukee Police Department were in the right place at the right time as they stopped a strong-armed robbery in progress and quickly arrested the suspect. The officers were on patrol in the 2400 block of S. Howell Avenue around 8:40 p.m. on June 19 when they saw a woman on the sidewalk and a man standing over her trying to steal her purse. As the officers got out of their car, the suspect fled from the scene on foot. The suspect made his way into a nearby neighborhood and the officers chased after him. A few minutes later, the suspect, a 29-year-old Milwaukee man, and a convicted felon, was located under the porch of a home. The suspect, who has a criminal past dating back to 2003, was taken into custody. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
