A 57-year-old South Milwaukee man has been arrested and charged following a bank robbery on April 8 at the Wells Fargo Bank at 100 E. Wisconsin Avenue. Investigators from the Milwaukee Police Department were able to identify the suspect, Christopher Botana, through handprints left at the Wells Fargo scene. During that crime, Botana approached a teller, took out a handgun, and demanded money. The employee complied with the demands and Botana fled. Botana was taken into custody in Aurora, Colorado on April 17 following a bank robbery there.
Botana had been released from prison on March 25th for a 2007 Recklessly Endangering Safety conviction and had failed to report to his parole agent. He now faces an Armed Robbery charge that carries a potential 40-year prison sentence if convicted.
