Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn, along with Mayor Tom Barrett, Common Council President Michael Murphy, and other community organizations unveiled new prescription drug drop box receptacles in MPD district stations on Wednesday, March 25.
CVS’ Drug Disposal for Safer Communities Program donated seven household pharmaceutical waste receptacles to MPD. These will be located at Municipal Court and District Stations 2-7. The Milwaukee Health Department, the Milwaukee County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District are also taking part in the program.
It is recommended that unused pills be transferred to a clear plastic bag for disposal. Empty pill bottles or containers may go into your recycling bin or the garbage. You do not have to take individual pills out of plastic pillow or bubble packaging.
