August 1st, 2012 by milwaukeepolice

On July 11 at about 9:10 p.m., District 3 Police Officers Allen Tenhaken, Markel McKinley and Corianna Chisum were conducting a field interview in the 900 block of North 27th Street. Officer Tenhaken was flagged down by a woman in a white sedan who was pointing east on West Kilbourn Avenue, saying, “He went that way.”

Officers McKinley and Chisum attempted to stop the suspect who began running across West Kilbourn Avenue. Officer McKinley took the suspect into custody in the 2400 block of West Kilbourn Avenue. Officer McKinley informed Chisum that the suspect threw a gun down in the street during the foot pursuit. Meanwhile, Officer Tenhaken determined that the suspect had robbed the woman who stopped the officers at the Golden Midtown Store, 801 N. 27th St.

The suspect is a convicted felon. A great job by veteran Officer Tenhaken showing these new officers how great neighborhood relationships are built when police return the public spaces back to the community.
