An off-duty Milwaukee Police detective and officers from District Three arrest a suspect for a strong-armed robbery. The crime happened on June 8 at approximately 12:20 pm in the 1600 block of N. 54th Street. The suspect, a 22-year-old Milwaukee man, entered the vehicle of the victim, an 85-year-old Milwaukee woman, struck her and stole her purse. The off-duty detective witnessed the incident and contacted District Three officers in the area. The officers identified the suspect as he was on a bicycle near 55th and Galena but the suspect then took off on foot. At approximately 2:05 pm, a citizen told police that a man matching the suspect’s description had jumped from a tree in the 1600 block of N. 56th Street. Officers saw the suspect running in the 5500 block of W. Vliet Street and took him into custody. The suspect faces charges of strong-armed robbery and his case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
