Two motorcycle officers with the Milwaukee Police Department’s Neighborhood Task Force arrest a burglary suspect within minutes of the crime. The officers were on patrol in District 2 around 1:45 pm on December 16 when they heard the description of a suspect involved in a burglary in the 1000 block of S. 10th Street. Shortly after that broadcast was made, the officers observed a suspect matching the description in the 1500 block of W. Mineral Street. Officers interviewed and arrested him and found the stolen property in a bag he was carrying. Also in the bag was a digital talking book that upon further inspection was confirmed to have been recently borrowed from an area library by the victim.
The suspect, a 53-year-old Milwaukee man, was currently on probation for a previous burglary. He has a lengthy arrest record dating back to 1994 that includes six arrests for either burglary or attempted burglary plus arrests for prowling and possession of burglary tools. The case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
