Milwaukee Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect who is accused of trying to abduct a 7-year-old girl in the 1100 block of N. 17th Street just after 3:00 p.m. on July 30, 2015.
The child was playing in front of her residence when she was approached by a male subject who attempted to talk the child into coming with him. When the child refused, the subject attempted to pick her up, but the child was able to resist his efforts and run away. The child returned home and her mother contacted Milwaukee Police.
The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20′s with a short haircut. He was wearing a light colored tank top and green shorts. He fled the scene southbound on N. 17th Street and then eastbound on W. Highland Avenue.

UPDATE (8/2/2015 at 11:10 a.m.): Tips from the public have led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Milwaukee man who was being sought for the attempted abduction of a seven-year-old girl on July 30 in the 1100 block of N. 17th Street. The suspect was taken into custody on August 1 in the 100 block of E. Concordia Avenue. MPD will present charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
