A victim seriously injured in a June 18 motor vehicle crash on Milwaukee’s North Side died at a local hospital on July 6. Around 11:30 p.m. on June 18, Quaid Q. Belk (B/M, 06/18/1989) was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at a high speed northbound in the 3800 block of N. 27th Street. At the same time, a 30-year-old man was driving a 2006 Pontiac G6 on North 27th Street and was making a U-Turn. The Monte Carlo struck the G6 causing severe damage to both vehicles. Belk fled from the scene on foot but was arrested a short time later by the Milwaukee Police Department. The victim in the G6 suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he died on July 6. A 32-year-old female passenger in the G6 also suffered numerous injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Belk was charged on June 24 with two counts of Hit and Run-Involve Great Bodily Harm and two counts of Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle. MPD will request amended charges from the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
