Officers from District Two and District Three of the Milwaukee Police Department, along with several citizens, helped save the life of a suicidal woman. Milwaukee Police received a call at about 10:40 p.m. on November 28th indicating that a 17-year-old female was threatening to jump from the viaduct near N. 35th Street and W. Pierce Street. Citizens engaged the woman in conversation until officers arrived. Four District Two officers and a District Three sergeant grabbed hold of the woman and pulled her back over the railing. Within minutes of the initial call, the female was safe and in custody. She was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Milwaukee County Mental Health for further treatment.
