MPD Officer Injured by Accused Drunk Driver

Milwaukee Police are investigating an injury accident that happened around 1:05 a.m. on January 20 in the 2500 block of N. Hopkins Street. Officers were at a location investigating a battery complaint when a northbound 2003 Cadillac (operated by 55-year-old Milwaukee man at a high rate of speed) collided with two parked cars and then a marked squad car. The squad car then struck an officer standing nearby causing him to fly through the air before he landed on the pavement. The officer, a 42-year-old male with 13 years experience suffered what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. He is currently being treated at a local hospital. The driver and lone occupant of the Cadillac was arrested on scene for operating while intoxicated causing injury and a violation of probation. He is being treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. He is currently on parole for Operating While Intoxicated 4th offense. Our investigation into this incident is ongoing.
