The Milwaukee Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Division recently launched a new sex offender registration and public notification website called Offender Watch. The new service is a citizen-friendly, easy to use website that allows citizens to search for sex offenders in their area. The information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is updated in real time by the Milwaukee Police Department as offender information changes and is reported.
Offender Watch can be accessed from the MPD web page: City.milwaukee.gov/police under the Information and Services column or here. The data is maintained by MPD Sensitive Crimes Division – Sex Offender Accountability Progra and the site features search by address and map features. Citizens can register an address to be continuously monitored and can receive email alerts about sex offenders registering in their area. Users will be able to see if offenders are in compliance with the city ordinance regarding sex offender residency restrictions. The service is no cost to users. “The Milwaukee Police Department is excited to announce this new tool, which allows for citizens to be better informed about sex offenders in their neighborhoods,” said Captain Aimee Obregon, Milwaukee Police Sensitive Crimes.
