Milwaukee Police are investigating the reported suspicious activity of a man who attempted to inappropriately engage a young girl in conversation or possibly attempted to entice her. This happened on February 17 in the 1700 block of W. Burnham Street at about 3:05 p.m. The 10-year-old girl told officers she was approached by the suspect as she was walking on the sidewalk. The suspect eventually fled on foot from the scene. The girl described the suspect as a black male, about 30 years-old, about 6’ tall, 180 pounds, and a thin build. He was wearing a black knit hat with a red Wisconsin “W” logo, a light green zip-up jacket, black pants, and black shoes. The suspect also had a diamond earring in his left ear. UPDATE (2/19/15 at 3:30 p.m.): The 10-year-old girl who reported she was inappropriately approached by a man near 17th and Burnham on February 17 now tells investigators that she fabricated the story to account for time she spent at a friend’s house. Milwaukee Police continue to investigate the February 13 sexual assault of a 17-year-old female in the 2000 block of S. 14th Street.
