MPD Investigating August 31 West Side Officer-Involved Shooting

Milwaukee Police Officers were sent to the 2900 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue on Thursday, August 31st at 12:45 p.m. for a call of subject with a gun. As officers arrived, they encountered a suspect matching the description of a subject described to be armed. The suspect fled on foot and officers pursued. During a confrontation, an officer fired his handgun striking the suspect. The adult male suspect sustained a serious injury and was transported to a local hospital. MPD is on scene and processing the scene for evidence.

The officers involved are assigned to District Three. One of the officers is a 33-year-old man with 3.5 years of experience. The other officer is a 28-year-old man with 1.5 years of experience.  Both have been placed on administrative duties as per policy. The Milwaukee Police Department Metropolitan Investigations Division is conducting the investigation.
