MPD Arrests Two Suspects in Riverwest Carjacking

Milwaukee Police officers arrested two suspects, including a convicted felon, following a carjacking in the Riverwest neighborhood. District Five officers responded to the 2600 block of N. Bremen Street around 5:15 p.m. on September 10 for a report of a carjacking. The victim, a 57-year-old male, told officers two male suspects approached him, pointed a gun at him, and demanded his car keys. The suspects then fled in the victim’s 2013 Kia Sportage.

Less than an hour later, the Sportage was spotted in the 3300 block of N. 27th Street and officers tried to stop the car but it fled and officers pursued it. The Sportage was involved in a crash near N. 21st Street and W. North Avenue a few minutes later. The passenger of the car, a 17-year-old Milwaukee male, fled from the vehicle and was quickly taken into custody. The driver, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man, continued to flee police in the Sportage for a short distance before running from the car. He was taken into custody in the 1900 block of N. 24th Street. Both suspects face potential charges of Armed Robbery, Fleeing an Officer, Resisting an Officer, and Driving/Operating a Vehicle without Owner’s Consent. The 17-year-old suspect has an arrest history dating back to 2012 and the 18-year-old is a convicted felon with an arrest history dating back to 2013. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
