Milwaukee Police arrested four suspects after they led officers on a chase on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side. Around 6:15 p.m. on July 13, officers saw a stolen car traveling in the area of the 3100 block of N. 74th Street. When they attempted to stop the car, the four occupants jumped out of the car while it was still moving. The officers chased the subjects on foot and with the help of neighborhood residents, all four subjects were apprehended a short distance away.
When the subjects fled from the car they left it in drive. As the car began to roll in reverse, an officer attempted to stop the vehicle before it could injure citizens in the neighborhood or cause additional property damage. While doing so he lost his balance and was dragged by the vehicle. The vehicle came to rest when it struck a light pole. The 51-year-old male officer received several injuries from the incident. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
The vehicle was stolen from a dealership in Sturtevant in Racine County. Milwaukee Police is coordinating the investigation with Sturtevant Police Department. The suspects taken into custody are two 17-year-old males, a 16-year-old female, and a 15-year-old female. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
