MPD Arrests Five Suspects in South Side Carjacking

Milwaukee Police officers arrested five suspects for their role in a South Side carjacking. Officers from District Two responded to the 900 block of W. Lapham Boulevard around 8:25 p.m. on April 28 for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a 17-year-old male, told officers that several suspects approached him and demanded his car and cell phone at gunpoint. The victim complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s car, a 2006 Pontiac Vibe. A short time later, officers in District Five saw the stolen Pontiac Vibe near I-43 and W. North Avenue and began to pursue it. The suspects eventually fled on foot from the car near S. 6th Street and W. Lapham Boulevard and were quickly taken into custody. A 9mm gun and the victim’s cell phone were both recovered. The suspects that were arrested are a 16-year-old male, two 17-year-old males, an 18-year-old man, and a 21-year-old man. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
