A teenage suspect is arrested by Milwaukee Police for a theft and has confessed to several other similar crimes. District Four officers were on patrol in the 5700 block of N. 62nd Street at about 5:35 p.m. on October 1 when a male suspect ran from them. Officers began to pursue the suspect on foot and he was taken into custody in the 5700 block of N. 60th Street. He told officers he ran because he had just beaten up someone and he thought that’s why they were looking for him. The 13-year-old Milwaukee male was taken to District Four for processing and while he was at the District Station, a 26-year-old woman from Milwaukee came in to report a theft. She reported that she was at a bus stop in the 5800 block of W. Silver Spring Drive shortly before 5:30 p.m. when a suspect stole her cell phone and purse and then fled. She described her cell phone as a white Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Officers quickly realized that the 13-year-old was a likely suspect. When he was taken into custody, the Samsung phone was found on him. The victim later identified the suspect in a photo array. During the investigation, the suspect confessed to at least six other thefts where he stole cell phones and electronics. He also told officers he keeps a calendar at home where he marks the days he commits thefts and the amount he gets from selling the items. MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
