Justice for Laylah: MPD Arrests Three in Homicide Case

Nearly a year after the tragic homicide of 5-year-old Laylah Petersen, Milwaukee Police announced the arrest of and charges against three suspects.  Laylah was killed on November 6, 2014 when numerous shots were fired into her home in the 5000 block of N. 58th Street as she sat on the lap of her grandfather.  Information from associates of the men involved led to the development of them as suspects and their subsequent arrests.  Paul T. Farr (24) and Carl L. Barrett (20) were arrested on October 14 in Milwaukee.  The third suspect, Arlis W. Gordon (23), was arrested in suburban Chicago on October 17 on unrelated charges.  Farr has been charged with two counts of Harboring/Aiding a Felon.  Barrett and Gordon have both been charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide–Party to a Crime.  The criminal complaint can be read here.  Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A. Flynn said, “This was a completely reckless act by suspects with no regard for human life. Our detectives have worked tirelessly on this case for the past year to bring justice to the Petersen family.”
