Good Police Work Nabs Teen Burglars

While on special burglary patrol on August 29, 2012 in the area of W. Oklahoma Ave/W. Morgan Ave to S. 27th St. /35th St. District 6 Officers Phillip Rodriguez and Henry Dummann III, were flagged down at the in the 3200 block of south 31st St. by a woman who stated that three men had her son’s stolen bicycle and they fled southbound from the area.

Upon searching the officers saw two males riding bikes into a yard in the 3100 block of W. Lakefield Ave. Upon entering the yard the two teens, ages 15 and 16, were taken into custody and the the third ran away. The bicycle was verified as having been reported stolen and was returned to the grateful owner.

Officer Dummann then interviewed both subjects and they stated a 14-year-old was the third person who ran from the scene. Upon leaving the District one of the suspects flagged the officers down and they arrested the 14-year-old right in front of the District station. He was taken into custody and was interviewed by Officer Dummann. He confessed to the group’s involvement in a burglary that occurred in the 3300 block of S. 26th St. on August 11, 2012 where two bicycles were taken.
