Two Milwaukee men, both convicted felons, are charged following their involvement in an attack on officers from District 7 of the Milwaukee Police Department. On June 21, at approximately 1:10 pm, the officers saw a vehicle in the 4900 block of N. 76th Street believed to be used in an earlier armed robbery. Inside the vehicle were a female driver and two male passengers. As officers tried to remove the passengers from the car, a struggle ensued. During the struggle, a male officer suffered a minor injury and a female officer suffered substantial facial injuries. Both officers were treated and released from a local hospital.
Fully loaded handguns were found on each of the suspects, 31-year-old Donald R. Blankenburg Jr. and 31-year-old Jason L. McAfee, and each is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Both of those firearms had been previously reported stolen in Milwaukee. McAfee also faces charges of Resisting an Officer Causing a Soft Tissue Injury and Possession of THC. The occupants of the car have not been linked in any other way to the previous armed robbery investigation.
