Alert officers from District 5 of the Milwaukee Police Department arrest a convicted drug dealer wanted in a strangulation case. The officers were on patrol in the 2800 block of N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at approximately 6:10 pm on January 13 when they located a car matching the description of a suspect wanted in a strangulation case from January 10. The officers pulled up a picture of the suspect on their squad computer and identified him as he walked outside of a store and arrested him. The suspect, 27-year-old Javod D. Petty of Milwaukee, was also carrying more than six grams of cocaine and $937 and has multiple prior convictions for drug offenses. In an interview with detectives, Petty confessed to selling crack cocaine.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney charged Petty with Felony Strangulation and Misdemeanor Battery. This is in relation to an incident on January 10 when a Milwaukee woman alleges Petty choked and assaulted her in the 2500 block of N. 2nd Street.
