Officers from District Two of the Milwaukee Police Department help a family after a teenage boy threatened to kill himself. The teen’s mother called police on June 2 to the area of S. 20th Street and W. Mitchell Street because her son, who had returned from Milwaukee County Mental Health earlier in the day, was being disruptive in the house. When officers arrived, the 15-year-old armed himself with a large knife in the kitchen and threatened to kill himself. The officers began negotiations and one of the officers built a rapport with the teen since he dealt with him the week prior on another suicidal threat call. After talking with the boy for about 20 minutes, the teen agreed to drop the knife and was taken into custody without incident. The officers from District Two displayed great patience and concern for a juvenile suffering an emotional crisis and prevented the teen from harming himself and others.
