District Four Teamwork: Northwest Side Officers Work Together to Solve Burglary

Officers from District Four of the Milwaukee Police Department used some good old-fashioned police work to solve a Northwest Side burglary and arrested two suspects. The officers were flagged down in the 7400 block of W. Silver Spring Drive around 7:00 p.m. on June 22 and were met by the victim, a 38-year-old Milwaukee woman who told them a man had just stolen her son’s orange and silver BMX bicycle from her garage.

About 45 minutes later, a different District Four officer was dispatched to a Subject with a Gun complaint in the 10800 block of W. Florist Avenue. The caller gave a vehicle description, with a license plate, of a silver 2-door Ford Escort. The officer located the Escort a few minutes later in the 11300 block of W. Kaul Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. While looking at the car, the officer saw in plain view the stolen BMX bicycle in the rear hatch. The driver, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody on charges of Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property. The passenger, a 17-year-old Milwaukee male, was arrested on the same charges and issued a citation of Carrying a Concealed Weapon. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
