District Five Officers Use StarChase to Arrest Suspect Who Fled During Traffic Stop

Using the latest technology, officers from District Five of the Milwaukee Police Department arrested a suspect, armed with a gun and drugs, who fled during a traffic stop. District Five officers were on patrol near N. 16th Street and W. Capitol Drive around 9:20 p.m. on December 6 when they noticed a 2009 Infinity M35 speeding and traveling recklessly. Officers pulled the car over but as soon as the Infinity stopped, it sped off. The officers were able to successfully deploy a StarChase GPS tag to the rear of the Infinity before it fled and this allowed officers to track the Infinity’s location. When the Infinity came to rest a short time later in the 1500 block of W. Congress Street, the driver was taken into custody. The driver, a 30-year-old Milwaukee man, had more than $6700 in cash on him and in his car was a loaded handgun, three grams of heroin, one gram of cocaine, and four grams of marijuana. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
