Convicted Felon Arrested Minutes After Armed Robbery

Officers from District 4 of the Milwaukee Police Department arrested an armed robbery suspect minutes after the crime occurred. At approximately 7:10 pm on July 22, a suspect inside the Dollar General store at 1935 W. Silver Spring Drive tried to leave the building with stolen merchandise hidden in his shirt and pants. A store employee tried to stop the suspect when the suspect took out a knife and threatened the employee with the knife. Within minutes, officers arrived on the scene and were told by the employee the suspect was in the median across the street. The suspect, a 51-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody. He is a convicted felon and has a current open case for retail theft. The complete investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
