A convicted felon is arrested after firing a gun outside a tavern on Milwaukee’s north side. Two officers from District Five responded to a Shotspotter call in the 1500 block of W. Columbia Street at about 3:05 am on July 23. They began to question two subjects in a nearby parking lot about the gunfire. One of the subjects denied being involved in the incident despite having a holster with an exposed clip on his body. Officers searched the vehicle the subject was driving and located a loaded .40 caliber, semi-automatic handgun that belonged to him. A spent casing was found a short distance away from the vehicle. The suspect, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody. He is a convicted felon with a 2008 conviction of Possessing a Firearm in a School Zone. The Milwaukee Police Department will present this current case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
