Coffee Cup and Job Application Helps MPD Arrest Teenage Armed Robbery Suspect

Alert police work, specific details from a victim, and a job application helped officers from District Six of the Milwaukee Police Department solve an armed robbery. Officers were dispatched to the robbery at a business in the 2400 block of S. Kinnickinnic Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 25. The victim, a 38-year-old Milwaukee woman, told officers a female suspect entered the business and when the suspect was about to pay for an item she took out a knife and demanded money from the cash register. The victim complied with the demands and the suspect fled on foot. The victim gave officers a detailed description of the suspect including that she was carrying a coffee cup from a nearby fast food restaurant. Officers went to the restaurant, viewed surveillance video and identified the suspect. Twenty minutes before the armed robbery, the suspect had filled out a job application. Using her address from the application, officers went to the suspect’s home in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Avenue and took her into custody. The suspect is a 15-year-old female and MPD will present charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
