Chief Flynn’s Statement on Vagnini Plea

Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A. Flynn made the following statement regarding the April 22 “no contest” plea made by Michael Vagnini:

“It is important to note that the Milwaukee Police Department launched three separate investigations into these allegations. The first, in 2010, could not be substantiated with the available evidence. The second, in 2011, could not be completed due to the death of the complainant at the hands of another drug dealer. The third, in 2012, resulted in the referral by Internal Affairs to the District Attorney and the commencement of the John Doe investigation. The Milwaukee Police Department assertively moved to uphold its core values and its commitment to retaining the public’s trust, and rejects the misconduct that it uncovered which undermined both.”
